Beach terrain high overlooking the sea and the forest, located just 18 kilometers south of San Juan del Sur, inside the Maritime Park El Coco, a tourist complex created especially for rest with a peaceful and relaxing environment which allows direct contact with nature. It has abundant vegetation (malinche, guanacaste, polite, jobo, madroño, guácimos and oak trees) that serves as habitat for a series of mammals (squirrels, sloths, ostoches, skunks, bare-tailed foxes, iguanas and garrobos), birds ( magpies, chocoyos, hummingbirds, carpenters, frigates, pelicans, among others) and butterflies. during the months of October and November there are herds of congo monkeys that relish the fruits of the jobs that ripen in that season. The resort has the restaurant "sunset", located on the seashore, which offers a very assorted menu. It also has the "minisuper Guanacaste" where you can buy food, wine, ice cream and many other things. The coast allows a safe and pleasant bath. spectacular sunsets and occasionally turtles that spawn in the sand can be observed. The site is ideal for horseback riding or cycling to the surrounding villages or to enter the mountain and observe herds of congo monkeys, various types of birds, butterflies and other forest animals. at night you can visit the flower beach, where at some time of the year sea turtles arrive that are in danger of extinction such as the Paslama turtle (lepidochelys oliveacea). Up to 20,000 turtles can be observed within 4 days. During the day you can take a boat trip in front of Playa el Coco and Playa La Flor where with a little luck you can see dolphins and with good luck whales. Another excursion that cannot be missed is Bolaños Island, between the Nicaraguan-Costa Rica maritime border, a sanctuary of hundreds of seabirds.
